Cardtek a leading global payment technologies provider, today announced that it has supported Axis Bank to launch a national payment system for public transportation in India. The new payment solution will fully integrate the banking systems and it is RuPay certified, the national smart card based payment standard in India, providing a secure payment platform that offers residents the ability to easily pay for goods and services - including public transportation - using just one smart prepaid card.
The payment solution "Axis Bank RuPay Contactless Transportation Card", is initially rolled out in Bangalore, the second most populated city and then recently in Kochi, one of touristic cities of India.
The opening "Smart City Technologies" ceremony is held in Kochi with the participation of Narendra Modi, Honourable Minister of India, and in Banglore with Shri Ramalinga Reddy, Honourable Minister of Transport, Government of Karnataka.
